When adding or editing a product, at the Images/Videos tab when we select Choose from Gallery then use the drop down window to select Image Manager, all of the thumbnails for uploaded images appear to be broken and cannot be seen. The 'view larger' links work, however, on several of our images, even that link is not showing. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Is there a recommended image size for the product photos we upload? Most of my existing photos are small (~600x300 pixels ), but I'm getting ready to load a bunch of new products and the pictures could be up to 1200 pixels wide.

Any advice or suggestions about product photo image sizes?
Thanks!

Hello:
When creating discount rules, there should be a start date and a finish date.
Especially during certain holidays when I have more than one sale going on, it would be a great help for me and I am sure other store owners not to have to remember to turn on a discount rule/ or create one.
For instance if I know I will be away on vacation one week, the last thing I want to think about is creating a discount rule or even enabling it.
If I am on vacation or at home I should not have to worry about my site.
I have added in a custom header and moved the logo to the centre. Somewhere in this process, I have added an extra margin between the header and the pages navigation bar (Home, ContactUs etc). The site is http://www.sugarhigh.mybigcommerce.com
I have tried changing just about every number I can see in the template files, but my CSS is very limited. Could somebody please point me in the right direction?
Just a quick blurb for the BigCommerce experience so far... the support has been fantastic, and I was genuinely impressed at how little time it took to get started. The online video's are very informative, as is their support forums.
And if you've exhausted the options there, don't be afraid to raise a ticket. The support staff are professional, and well experienced, and can help you quickly.
I would be hard pressed to find a better home for my Business, and strongly recommend it no matter what scale your business is...

Ever since I switched my sites to bigcommerce my websites have been loading slowly. I have minimized the image sizes. I have other sites the same size hosted at other hosts and they all run fast. Bigcommerce loads slow and I have found many postings on this. If you search google for "big commerce slow". I am thinking I should take my business elsewhere. Perhaps they only want to cater to small shops that take 2-3 orders a day? Am I at the wrong platform? Does bigcommerce want to deal with medium sized businesses?
They always blame it on an aspect you have in your store. They will say, "oh reduce your image sizes or disable this feature, disable that feature". We disabled all of our features bigcommerce that you designed that we can't even use. All of these features listed on your features page we can't even use because it slows our site down to a 5-6 second load time which is unacceptable. If you contact bigcommerce support they blame it on a server problem. They point fingers. Nobody takes blame that they siphon off bandwidth on purpose. Why wouldn't they siphon bandwidth? They send less to smaller sites and more to sites that actually need it. There are no big retailers on there live showcase. That should have told me something. I enjoy big commerce. I like that it works great but I don't like the slowness. What is the point of building more and more awesome features if we "store owners" can't use these awesome features without having to trade off on the experience of our guests "visitors". Somebody from Bigcommerce please enlighten me. If I hear you blame your servers one more time I will scream mad.

Hello,

I think we might have uncovered a bug. And, it sure would be nice if we could squash it - or provide a workaround (because that seems to be the quickest way these days).

I had someone point out a rather odd occurrence on our site today.

He asked why when someone searched on our site - the displayed results had a quantity box above the "Add to Cart" button - that contained "0" or Zero - rather than "1".

Rather odd, I thought, but that's the way our designers coded it - and, if you do click on the "Add to Cart" button - it does - add to cart like it should. And, if you change it to "1" and hit the button, that works, too!

But, I can understand that it might be confusing and doesn't look logical, so let me see if we can make that default to a logical "1" rather than "0"... and keep those pesky customers happy. (humor intended)

Looks like I was about to find the location that controls that and what looks to be the coding: %%GLOBAL_AddToCartQty%% --- but, uh oh - that's a "GLOBAL" item that can't be adjusted by mere store owners - or even skilled coders....

The odd thing is that on the Product Pages, the default is "1" and not "0" -- so why is it that way on the search results page?

So, if I've indeed found the source of this conundrum, and I can't change that to make it look right, can someone offer a workaround or suggest a timeline to put a fix in place that the default quantity is 1 rather than 0?

I'll attach a screenshot so you can clearly see the odd nature of this issue.

We are now 9 months into our experience with BC. It has been a daunting task developing our website and there are many reason to choose BC for your online shopping cart needs. I encourage all of you to have realistic expectations though! It wont happen overnight and you will need to put in many hours to making your dreams come true. Realize you have much to learn and understand that making your site come to life takes more then just a couple of clicks. We learn something new each day because of all that Big Commerce offers. BC has its limitations and with a little tweaking and patience you can make most of what you invision happen. BC is exploding onto the shopping cart scene for a reason. Great tools, apps, add-ons and design capabilities. There are hard coding work arounds that will slow your progression but they are minor in the scheme of things in my opinion. We are excited to be working with Big Commerce and encourage you to pull the trigger if you are on the fence.

We new nothing about building a website 9 months ago. And now have many tools that will help us succeed!

Thanks BC Team

Regards,
